Mani ratnam deserves this ! and AR too.

Its an excellent tie between the movie and the music. This is the best one which has amazing battle field shots and the backgroung music.

Rahman has induced his magical music into millions of hearts. Right from the songs to the background score, Rahman has proved it again. The DVD version of this movie is amazing. That too the 'dts' is superb. Rahman has give an inspiring piece. The bullets move here and there and you feel the real battle field as if you are caught in between. Excellent, movie has not made it in dollars but it has made it in our hearts.

AR Rahman - the magician

AR Rahman, we all know him as a music director or a music composer but there are instances where he has proved to be a magical musician. The magic in his music has won at many movies.

Silunu oru kaadhal - New York Nagaram Song : This song is a real magic of its own, on hearing it for the first time, I was totally amazed and the harmony totally won my heart. This movie in the theatre is much more fantastic in the dts sound.

Each and every note either its a bass or a treble all are particularly distinguished and they all are heard even at very loud volumes. With all these high volume music the harmony is still kept in the perfect place.

Sivaji - Sahana saral, Athirade kaaran : These songs have made the same impact. Background score of SIVAJI is temendous.... Rajni kaanth will never get a better bg score than SIVAJI's. It is the adthirade kaaran' song note composed for the bg score...AR Rahman has again proved to be a magician.

Sivaji - The Musical BOSS

The music of 'Sivaji' will definitely add lot of value to the movie. The songs sounds excellent, you could try this in any good quality [SONY] walkman or in any home theater system so you could feel all the pants vibrating BASS from the sub-woofer to the glass breaker of the tweeters.

AR Rahman has covered all the speakers and this is about the audio CD [stereo], imagine about the 'dts' in theaters. It will definitely be unbelievable.

Ballerakha Ballerakha
The usual Rajini introduction song and it has been given better lyrics this time. AR Rahman has added the necessary bass that lifts the song to a different height and here he did not give any intro - music for Rajinikaanth, may be out there in the movie like 'Mudhalvan'.

Style - Style

This song has a different approach to Tamil Cinema songs. ARR has made a different try and succeeded in making the tamil audiance accept this way of music too, there lies his genius.

Vaaji-Sivaaji

Melodious and the intro of this song is woofery! Soft start with a blowing bass, a very rear combination of music. Not many of them feel it at the first time, these type of combinations come only after much more research work. This is an excellent soft melody hit.

Athiradikaaran

This is not Rajnikaanth- This athiradikaaran is ARR, this song is superb, no words to comment. It will shake you from top to bottom without your knowledge. That too lyrics by Vaale, very flexible to ARR's music. Ulitimately ARR has sung this blasting hit for Rajini.

Sahana

Udit Narayan is the perfect match for this song for he take it to good high pitches with an ease. ARR has done the tune in such a way it melts your heart. It has come out very well and the instruments used make us think a lot about the way it add to the song.

Tell me truely - How many songs in HEY RAM was a hit, I think it is mostly 2 or 3 songs.How about INDIAN - AR Rahman made all songs a super duper hit, infact the movie INDIAN was dubbed in Hindi and not remade as "Hey RAM".

INDIAN movie did not have and bollywood heros like "Sharukh khan". INDIAN has 2 pillars which made it to the skies - AR RAHMAN and SHANKAR.

Its only when AR Rahman came with "ROJA", the entire world stopped and had a look on the indian music and indian cinema. AR Rahman has taken Indian movies to the outside world and not just outside the box.

Remember a music composer/director did this great job not a film director or an actor. ONLY THE GREAT AR RAHMAN HAS DONE IT NOT ANYBODY IN THIS WORLD COULD HAVE DONE IT BETTER!

I have been listerning to AR Rahman's music since ROJA. The music of AR Rahman has got many layers/notes of different instruments one below the other and this adds its very depth.

When the music is listerned in a personal system - iPOD or a walkman its depth of the trble notes are heard, this does not mean that the bass are left behind. AR Rahman always keeps an eye on the bass notes. Best examples are "Snehidhanaye", "Enrendrum Punagai" and "Kaadhal Sadugudu" in Alaipauthey.

When the music is listerned in a Home Theatre - Either 5.1 or 4.1, AR Rahman sounds excellent. Sometimes I use to think that the Sub woofer was invented on ly for AR Rahman's music. He uses all the channels perfectly.

When the music is listerned in a Movie Theatre - In dts, AR Rahman is the ultimate. Even at high volumes you don't feel the jarring note or a pain note. Even at high volume he sounds so harmonous - like New york Nagaram song. Some sound are meant to feel and not to hear, like the intro of Aayutha Ezuthu (YUVA)

AR Rahman always makes us to explore his music and it is very interesting.

In theatre - "New york Nagaram" will give you a feel of the New york city. Rahman has takes your mind away from you with his music and his ultimate voice. Once the song started there was a huge applause.

Out of theatre - People around me are all talking about the "New york Nagaram" song, some sing it all their way home, some murmer the tune as they couldn't get the exact words.
This song once again proves 2 thing from AR RAHMAN...

- The power/magic/miracle in AR Rahman's music that always stays back in your heart
- Music will always cross the boundary of language

'Sillunu oru kaadhal' music by AR Rahman. The songs are great and got 7 different varieties of music. The instrumentation is simply superb.

'New York Nagaram' is the ultimate one, it takes you to a different mood. It does miracles when you listern to it everytime. This is a perfect AR RAHMAN masterpiece.

'Ammimithichaachi - Avalukenna' is the folk song at its best, it keeps your feet tapping till the end. It is quite a fast number and love to hear one.

'Munbe vaa en anbee vaa' is again a very attracting one, just at the first listerning it sits firmly in your mind. Excellent tune and music composition.

'Machakaare Machakaare' is a good fast number that runs in your mind while walking, driving and while doing any speedy actions. Excellent rhythm and tune. Instruments and the effect in a 5.1 out of the audio CD is great.

Just music composition is not alone the business, how does it sound in different environments and in different systems. Just listern to the 'Kannathil Muthamitaal' audio CD in 5.1 channel speakers - It sounds great or you try to play in any SONY walkman / Discman it is excellent.
Many songs to list almost everything sounds excellent in 5.1.

Watch any AR Rahman musical - movie in an original DVD in 5.1, you won't believe it, the sound from different corner of your room stunns you ! It is your old room and the sounds make it unbelieveable - is it my room or a dts theatre? Watch it to believe it.
